IF 2020 is funded by the University of Guelph (through the COVID-19 Research Development & Catalyst Fund and the College of Arts), the Musagetes Foundation, and the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI), all of which are located in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. IF 2020 and IICSI recognize that we reside on the ancestral lands of the Attawandaron people and the treaty lands and territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit. We uphold the significance of the Dish with One Spoon Covenant and the continuing relationship our Indigenous neighbours have with this land. We recognize that this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, and acknowledging them reminds us of our relationships to this land where we learn and work.
While our Festival will be held virtually, we also want to acknowledge that IF 2020 features an international roster of artists and an audience that is not situated in any one place. We wish to recognize the collective struggle of Indigenous peoples worldwide, and we encourage all IF artists and audience members to learn about the land from which you join us.
